Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

AgreeGuard, operated by Aethorn Labs Ltd. ("we," "our," or "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and website.

Payments for AgreeGuard Pro are processed by Paddle, our authorized Merchant of Record. Paddle may collect and process personal data in accordance with its own privacy and consumer terms.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information (email address, name)
  • Billing and transaction information processed by Paddle (such as payment status and subscription details)
  • Feedback and correspondence when you contact us

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data (pages analyzed, features used)
  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • Log data (IP address, access times, referring URLs)
  • Bug report metadata: If you submit an issue report through the extension, your browser user-agent string and extension version are included to help us diagnose the problem

2.3 Chrome Extension Data

The AgreeGuard Chrome extension collects and processes the following data when you use it:

  • Page URLs: The URL of the page you are viewing is sent to our servers to identify and retrieve legal documents (Terms of Service, Privacy Policy) for analysis.
  • Page Content: Text content of legal documents detected on the page is extracted and sent to our servers for AI-powered analysis. Only legal document text is extracted — we do not collect passwords, form inputs, or other personal content from the page.
  • Authentication Tokens: Your login session token is stored locally in Chrome storage to keep you signed in across browsing sessions.
  • Analysis Cache: Analysis results are cached locally in Chrome storage to avoid redundant requests. Cached data stays on your device.
  • User Decisions: When you click "I Agree" or "I Don't Agree" after reviewing an analysis, your decision is recorded along with the service name, page URL, risk level, and timestamp. This powers your personal analysis history and dashboard statistics.

2.4 Extension Permissions

The extension requests the following browser permissions, each used for a specific purpose:

  • activeTab / tabs: Access the current tab's URL and content to detect and extract legal documents for analysis.
  • storage: Save your login session, preferences, and cached analysis results locally on your device.
  • scripting: Inject content scripts that detect legal documents on the pages you visit.
  • Host permissions: Required to read page content on any website so the extension can detect Terms of Service and Privacy Policy documents across all sites.

2.5 Website Content Analysis

When you analyze a webpage using AgreeGuard, text content is temporarily processed to generate analysis results. We do not permanently store full webpage content. Limited metadata (such as URLs and analysis results) may be retained to provide history and improve the service.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our service
  • To manage subscriptions and account access
  • To communicate service-related updates
  • To improve functionality and performance
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared with:

  • Payment Processing (Paddle): Paddle processes payments, subscriptions, refunds, and related customer data as Merchant of Record
  • Service Providers: Infrastructure, hosting, and analytics providers
  • AI Processing: Third-party AI services used to generate analysis results; text is processed transiently and not retained by these providers
  • Legal Obligations: When required by law

5. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and access controls on server-side systems. No system is completely secure.

6. Data Retention

  • Legal document content: Processed transiently during analysis and not permanently stored on our servers.
  • Analysis results and history: Retained while your account is active so you can review past analyses on your dashboard.
  • Local cache: Cached analysis results stored in Chrome storage expire automatically after 7 days.
  • Account data: Retained while your account remains active. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at help.agreeguard@gmail.com.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data, including analysis history, decisions, and profile information.
  • Objection: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes.
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at help.agreeguard@gmail.com with your account email address. We will respond within 30 days.

To clear locally stored data (cache, preferences, session), you can uninstall the AgreeGuard extension or clear extension data from your browser settings.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies and limited analytics cookies. Browser settings may be used to control cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

AgreeGuard is not intended for children under 13.

10. Chrome Web Store Compliance

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • Data is used only to provide and improve AgreeGuard's core T&C analysis functionality.
